My favourite audio players are foobar2000 and Billy.
Billy is simple and extremely fast.
I have created a plugin for him.
This plugin is based on MonsterMagnet's plugin for foobar2000.

I've written two versions of plugin. I dont know, which is better.

The plugin seems to work over the win32api.keybd_event function, which will only work if the application is in the foreground. Have you tried if Billy is able to receive emulated keystrokes if it resides in the background and you target it with EG's FindWindow action?

In the background work it very well, action FindWindow really there's no need !
They are it really Global Hotkeys.

Right now I release a new version (0.3.5) of Billy plugin.
The main changes:
1) It was integrated On Screen Menu for choosing playlists (Favorites).
The menu reads the data either from the folder Billy\Favorites (standard location), or from any other directory!

2) I created a small program "Start_Billy_Events.exe". He reads title of Billy windows and at each him change generates a event for EventGhost.
It is therefore very easy using the "Show OSD" to display the name of the file played.
To run "Start_Billy_Events.exe" along with "Billy.exe" you must mark a check box in the dialog to configure plug-in.
Program "Start_Billy_Events.exe" was created as a Python script and compiled by program py2exe.
Program "Start_Billy_Events.exe" by itself ensure, that he will be launched only once.
For stopping (killing) of program "Start_Billy_Events.exe" serve program " Stop_Billy_Events.exe".
