Tasker Plugin for EventGhost Android app

Postby liquid8 » Sun Jun 05, 2011 12:15 am

Hi all,

I have uploaded a Tasker Plugin to the Android Market. If you use the EventGhost Android app, and Tasker, this allows you to setup a macro in EventGhost, and execute a Tasker task. Tasker is a great app, it provides many actions you can perform on an incoming event, so this extends the capabilities of the Android app greatly!

For example:

An action on my EventGhost PC triggers and sends an event to my Android device
My Android device has a macro configured so when it receives the event, it runs a Tasker task that could do many things, like silent my device, etc..

I'd be happy to hear feedback... Enjoy!

Hello Liquid8,

I just installed your plugin and playing with it. I'm wondering, is it possible to get the plugin to work the other way around? I mean sending an eventghost event from tasker.

Thanks and best regards,

I as well would like this. I want Tasker to be able to Send Evenghost actions. I always thought people wanted to send events to PC from Phone more then Receive events from PC to their Phone. Seriously....I think I'm not alone here. The Tasker Plugin should really be made to allow Tasker to send Evenghost Ghosts actions

i do that, easy. just install the webserver plugin, configure it and, have it fire off an HTTP get request with an eventname of your choice. I have tasker tell eventghost based on my location if i'm at home or at work for instance.

see attached
put username:pword@yourserver.com:port
then the path ?[event to fire]

This worked great. I'm glad I figured out a way to get Tasker to fire EventGhost actions

Is there a method for doing android-to-android communication without the need for a computer to act in-between? HTTP Post would seem like a logical option but I have not bee able to get the syntax of the command correct.

Troubleshoot your network connection. That error basically means you are either not typing in the correct address to the computer Event Ghost is installed on, or you have not properly setup your router/network to accept the specific connection (open ports etc).

Hey,

I just saw this post and wanted to make you aware of the new Tasker Plugin I uploaded the other day. It communicates between Tasker and terRemote.
For those experiencing problems with communication between Tasker and EventGhost or those who want to use a remote app with Tasker / EventGhost, this might be interesting.
It supports full payloads- and variables-sending between all these three entities, also between two Android devices.

There is a free version of terRemote that comes with a 30-days trial period. It would be great if those who are interested could try it out and maybe report bugs and/or feature requests. Especially for those aspects regarding Tasker communication.

Hey A little help. I have everything working, thank you for this thread. Can someone write a python script that takes the spotify "get artist name" and sends it to the android event?

Thanks so much
