Jump action stopped working

Postby Freeeze » Thu Mar 18, 2010 12:16 pm

Hello,

I have just encountered a verry odd problem. When adding a "Jump" action to a macro it won't be processed. When I execute the jump command manually It won't work as well, however when I execute the Macro (target of the jump command) it works.

All existing Jump commands work fine - any new ones won't work

I suspect that the XML file is the issue, since it has over 100kb. The same procedure works fine when I create a new file.

best regards

I am having this problem and can not figure out how to fix it. None of my Jumps are working. I made a copy of my file to experiment with and deleted things one at a time to see if something was causing confusion and after deleting everything but a simple jump it still doesn't work. Creating a new file and adding a jump to it does work. What could be the problem?

If your configuration file is not secret, please attach it. Otherwise we can not help you.

I attached a simplified version where I deleted everything out of the file but one of the jumps and the macro it points to. The HDMI4 macro works fine. The Watch TV Macro doesn't work.

It is strange, for me it works normally.
Maybe we should start with what is written in the topic READ THIS before posting anything!
(in particular paragraph 1).

I know that it is not certain that it will help us, but to adhere to this principle should be.

Thank you for that link. I am sorry I could not find it before. I didn't see it stickied at the top of the forum or on the create a post page where you would normally find it.

Anyway,
I was using an older version when I discovered the problem but have upgraded to 0.3.7.r1494
I am using Windows 7 x64
I received no errors in the log.

Sorry, I just reloaded that file into eventghost and it worked. I attached the original file that is still not working.

I tried your configuration file. Perhaps you understand that it is impossible to work on my computer in its entirety.
However it seems that what might work, it also works.
Can you please attach the contents of logger and mark there a place where there is a malfunction?
Write also what action was expected, but not performed.

I just tried it out on Windows XP machine and it is not working on there either. Specifically the one I have been testing is
Macro: Watch TV
Action: Jump to "HDMI4" and return

If I click on that action and execute it nothing happens. If I go to the macro being jumped to and execute I get an OSD saying TV: HDMI4.

The macro that should be jumped to is:
Folder: Samsung TV IR
Macro: HDMI4

I will post the log tonight when I am back with the original machine.

This is a direct execution of the HDMI4 action which results in the large HDMI4 OSD and an IR blast.

Directly executing the Jump To HDMI4 should have the same effect as executing HDMI4 but it actually does nothing.

I think that in real life you do not need to manually run a action in the middle of the macro.
I had in mind the real situation - that is, run whole macro.
And please - instead of pictures of logger, I much prefer the copy of lines (copy/paste).

It looks like they were not working because it was set to only execute if the last step succeeds and sometimes it does not succeed.

Usually when tracking down things like this you want to narrow the problem down so I started just running the individual actions which appears to never work on a jump(at least for me). So changing the Jump configuration to always execute didn't appear to fix it since I was still executing it directly but it did indeed fix it when running the entire macro.

Thanks for your help.

The jump action does appear to be broken as of 1568 release. When trying to configure an existing Jump EventGhost locks up completely and has to be restated. Also, it appears that the jumps are not executing when macros run.

PS - I found this to be true both for pre-existing jumps prior to upgrading to 1568 AND for new jumps that I add using 1568.

I trust that it happens to you, but it will be difficult to find a bug.
I tried it and no problem occurred.

Jumps are broken in EventGhost 4.1 1568 here as well.

They don't work at all, and if you try to configure a jump it will lockup eventghost.
