Remote Recognized as a Keyboard, What can I do

Postby FreshJR » Wed Jan 11, 2012 9:29 pm

Hi I have a Technisat Remote (TTS35AI) and the Technisat Universal IR Reciever (0900/3704) running Win 7 with no UAC

When I plug the receiver into windows it is recognized as a keyboard with each button on the remote is a predefined keyboard press.

When I tried to use the Technisat Universal IR plugin in EventGhost, it installs the custom drivers, but eventghost does not pickup any keypresses on the remote and it also does not work as a keyboard anymore.

Is their anyway I can just reprogram the remote to send different commands using EventGhost instead of the keyboard commands?

For Example if I press Mute on the remote, it would originally press M, but I would like to run a command without pressing M. So in a way Eventghost would intercept the input. Is this possible? If not, does anyone know what could be going wrong with the driver installation?

UPDATE: I read everything I could find and I am not sure why it is not working. I need a push in the right direction.

From what I see the default Technisat Plugin found in the EG installation is based off the files found in USB-Remote-Driver.zip and WinUSB Add-on.zip (EG downloads section).

My IR receiver these following specs
VID: 147A
PID: E02D
GUID: {745a17a0-74d3-11d0-b6fe-00a0c90f57da}

When checking the init.py from the default Technisat plugin that is installed with EG and the driver.ini from the downloaded USB-Remote-Driver.zip everything from my IR receiver matches except with the values except the GUID.

So far what I have tried to do is letting EG do its own driver installation but that didn't work. The drivers successfully install any key press does not register with EG.

As another attempt I tried changed the GUID in init.py ( found in default technisat plugin installed with EG) and also changing the GUID in the driver.ini (USB-Remote-Driver.zip) then and updating existing driver with the new GUID values driver.ini. The problem with this attempt is that eventghost will the changed driver.ini and prompts to install its own non working drivers.

I have also tried install WinUSB seperately found in the downloads section.

I think something is blocking EG from registering the remote presses. I don't know if its a bad driver setup with Win 7 64bit NO UAC, EG, or something else that I may have running. I know the IR reciever works since the default HID install and work but i would like the combustibility from eventghost.

Have you tried using the EG keyboard plugin? If that picks up the remote keys, you can connect each to an EG macro that sends whatever key/signal you want.

Yes the keyboard plugin works, but I only want the macro to be sent to the computer and the not the pressed key.

I haven't figured out how to cancel to keysend with the keyboard plugin.
