controlling keyboard shortcuts

Postby THX-UltraII » Sun Dec 18, 2011 9:35 am

Hi,

I m using a D-Box system in my HT room. D-Box uses PC software. With this software you can control some things like sliders to adjust the intensity of the D-Box seating. At my request D-Box just released a new software version with keyboard shortcuts. With these shortcuts I can adjust sliders etc. I created events in Eventghost and I assigned buttons of my Logitech Harmony Remote with these. The problem is that it ONLY works when the D-Box software is ACTIVE and MAXIMIZED on the foreground of the windows desktop. But I want to control it when playing movies (I use Media Player Classic Home Cinema). Is there a way to do this with eventghost (or maybe another W7 tweak)?

Hope you guys understand what I need/looking for.

thxz!

AddFindWindow.png
If you don't target anything with the find window action before emulating the keypress it will go to the focused window as usual.
So you have before the action Emulate keystroke to place the action Find a window.
Sometimes the problem is to find the right (target) window (which accepts keystrokes). It may be a child window too.

thanks for your reply Paco! You have got to help me out further on this. Just tried some things but did not got result.

Ok, here s what it looks like at the moment:

In the screenshot you see above the D-Box shortcuts that are linked with my Harmony Remote does not work. This I understand because the D-Box application is not the active window at that moment (the Eventghost window is).

In the picture below it (of course) works because now I have clicked in the D-Box application which is the highlighted window at that moment:

So far I understand it correct (I think :))

So what I want is to add a 'Find A Windows' action to ALL the macro's I created in my D-Box folder correct? If correct, let s test it with the 'Power Toggle' macro I created:

When I add an action 'Find A Window' I get to see this:

What I tried to do is this:

and this:

But it s not working. What am I doing wrong here?

Probably another window accepts keystrokes ...

Here it is difficult to advise.
I do not have this program, and therefore I can not try it.
Yes, sometimes it can happen that you do not find the right target window.
However, something you can try:

If even this not help, then I do not know what to do.
Perhaps it is necessary to look for another way to control than using emulate keystrokes. Contact the author of programm.

Thought about it some more today and I just cannot imagine that there is no other way to send a signal (shortcut) to a specific program of your choice that is running as service in the background. I know too little about PCs to come up with a solution but like I said, I cannot imagine the solution you wrote is the only one.
