there's only way way to find out. It really depends on how many people visit the site, and whether or not they ever click on the ads.

My guess though is that it'll bring in more than $100 / yr.

Does anyone else have an opinion on this? Should I just go ahead?

I would just do it James... but...
Maybe wait a day or two for some other voices.

OK. I put in an ad at the top of the forum. We'll see what happens.

I don't think it's necessary to put ads on the rest of the site since the forum probably gets most of the traffic.

We'll see if anyone complains... :)

people should definitely be clicking on ads if they are of interest to them, but no one should do it just to create revenue. Google gets very prickly about that. I'm not allowed to click on them at all because it's my account. It's annoying because sometimes I see something I want to buy!

Let the google dough start rolling in. lol

I'm on the road now but will look harder into the domain transfer thing when I get in front of a PC.
I'll keep you all posted.

Be well too Walter.
Thanks again James.

I don't get the problem with the domain. If it's working why mess with it?

if you don't hear anything from me after 3 or 4 weeks, remind me and I'll post an update on how the ad revenue is going.

When we first moved the site over I made the mistake of doing the registration and hosting with two different companies.
I won't do that again.
I suggest we transfer the next registration cycle over to Go-Daddy and we''ll have both services with one company.

Why mess with it?

One company.
One payment for all of EG.net.
One pay period for all.
Easier... Simpler.

How's it going James?

Gonna' need to renew the domain soon.
I'm just wondering if it'll cover it (or some) or if we'll need to fire up the PayPal Donate button again.

Thanks.

I don't think we'll need to accept donations. Although it can sometimes change radically, the current average is 89 cents / day. While it may go up or down it will most likely remain in that ballpark. It will be a while before there is any money available though since google won't send anything until a month after you hit the $100 mark. But I think it would be safe enough for you to just pay it knowing you will be reimbursed, if you are ok with that.

Thanks for the info James.
That is pretty darn nifty.

I'll probably do what you suggest... Just pay for a few years of domain registration (that will make the domain and hosting jive time wise) and I'll bring the receipts back with my hand out.

Thanks again.
