PCTV Remote plugin

Hello,

I have written a plugin for my Pinnacle remote (Card: Pinnacle PCTV 310i) and want share it with the community. The plugin is working together with RemoTerm from the Pinnacle TVCenter software package. So it should work for all Pinnacle remotes (and IMHO Hauppauge remotes) which are connected (IR receiver) directly to the TV card or to a serial COM port.

Well, I can't test it with other remotes, so please share your expirience.


Prerequirement

• You have to install the TVCenter 6 Software from PCTV Systems (to get 'RemoTerm 3.x').
• Your remote must be configured and 'remoterm.exe' must be started.

Installation

• Create a directory 'PCTV Remote'
  (in ''%ProgramData%\EventGhost\plugins\')
• copy the attached files into the new directory
• restart EventGhost

Configuration

1. Backup the file 'profiles.ini'.
   (in '%ProgramData%\PCTV Systems\RemoTerm\Profiles\')
2. Copy the 'profiles.ini' from the plugin directory to the above directory.
3. Copy 'n paste the lines:
   
   • HWID=
   • port=
   • protocol=
   • keymap=
   from your backup to the new one (override existing lines).
4. Restart 'remoterm.exe'.
   (in '%CommonProgramFiles%\PCTV Systems\RemoTerm\')

In the directory '%ProgramFiles%\PCTV Systems\TVCenter\' you can find the file 'Remote_XX.pdf' which shows the keycodes for your remote.

Each button is generating two keycodes. One for a short, and one for a long keypress (+64 after a half second). A long keypress can be used together with the EventGhost autorepeat macro.

In the plugin directory you can also find an EventGhost configuration example to control the PCTV TVCenter software (keymapping is for a Remote Control Typ C).

I tried your plugin with a PCTV quattro stick 510e with a remote Type A. Your plugin works fine. The events look like this:

Pressing short "1"; PCTVRemote.49 '1'
Pressing long "1"; PCTVRemote.113 '2'

After installing the plugin the remote is not detected in the TVCenter software anymore.

Right, even for the TVCenter software you must add macros in EventGhost.

With the attached example "TVCenter.xml" (in the first post) you should be able to control the TVCenter software. This is working with my TVCenter 6.3.0.584.

with a remote Type A
Pressing short "1"; PCTVRemote.49 '1'

Of course, the example is for a Typ C.

Thus e.g. for Num1 you have to change the event for the macro "Numeric Key 1" from:
PCTVRemote.22
to:
PCTVRemote.49

Just look in the log if the correct macro is triggered after the change. If TVCenter still not respond, maybe the action "FindWindow" is not working for your TVCenter version?
