MCE reciever driver problems

Postby vapore0n » Wed Oct 31, 2007 1:24 pm

Heres the problem I'm having.

If I use eventghost with the OEM MCE driver I will get same command twice with one button press. Playing with the delay and the enabledebounce setting in the registry didnt fix this. Strange thing is, it used to work perfectly but then it stopped after a few days.

If I use the alternate driver for the remote, everything will be perfect, except that the driver will die after a while. Eventghost will stop registering hits, and sometimes the IR receiver will stop blinking the led on receive.

Only way to fix it at this point is to reboot and hope the driver doesnt die too quickly next time, or revert to the OEM driver.

I'm using the latest beta of EG with the MCE remote plugin. Ive tried different versions of EG too.

Anyone ever experienced this problem?

Actually no. My MCE receiver is plugged in always (just for support issues) and never has stopped working for me. Which Windows are you using? USB-Hub? Tried changing the port?

You also might look at the MediaPortal forum. Some guy has written a new version of the alternative driver there (for Vista I guess) that might work better. I haven't tried the new driver till now, but if I remember correctly, it should work with the EG plugin also.

Took a different approach at it and made it work.

Went back to the OEM MCE drivers and used the HID compliant device plugin.
So now I got all the functionality of the OEM drivers and can still control Zoom Player with EG.
Using a Harmony 659 to control the TV, PC, MCE and Zoom Player.

Just finished reprogramming EG so Ill be testing it see if the driver dies again, which shouldn't since its the OEM one.

Found what seemed to be a bug in EG while using the HID plugin.

Steps to recreate:
start pushing number buttons and all will be logged in EG
clear the log
start pushing number buttons and after 3-4 times EG ill be in a wait or blocked mode.

EG would crash every time I would clear the log and start pushing buttons.
Was using the latest beta available at the download site.

Well, the MCE plugin works fine here even with the eHome driver. But then EventGhost can't get full control over the buttons of course. So arrow keys and such will always emulate keystrokes in the application that currently has the focus.

The "clear log" bug I can confirm, even with the MCE plugin. But it seems only to happen if EventGhost's GUI has the focus. Hmm, this bug will be hard to find I guess.
