Remote plugin

Postby mywayfr » Fri Apr 06, 2012 8:30 am

Hello,
I've see in the supported remote list that my gyration device is supported, but I can't find a plugin for.
Some could tell me how to use it with eventghost ?

I also don't see in doc how to remap a button to a specific action, for example I wish to remap a button to close (ALT + F4 keyboard shortcut) in MCE, or in Mediaplayer classic.

I've selected the plugin for this program and I see the macro "Quit application" but in item action setting, it says "this action has no action to configure"

Thanks a lot for helping a newbie :)

Cheers,

Have you read the Short manual?

Look into using the Generic HID plugin. That is what I use for my gyration.

The Assigning Events to Macros describes how to map events(buttons), if that is not what you mean with remapping please clarify what you want to do?.

Hello :)

- Thanks hotbuddha, the generic plugin working and recognize my remote :D , did I also need the plugin Microsoft MCE WIn7 with his "AlternateMceIrService" for our gyration working on MCE?

- Thanks jonib, I want to assign a action to a "dead button" on my remote.
For example:
- Starting MCE by press the big center green button, I'm on the main windows of MCE
- I see on the log "Task.Activated.ehshell" (good so)
- I press the "blue button" nothing happens, because I think that no "event" programmed on the remote self
That what I want is to assign an action on that button when I'm on MCE
I wish when I press "blue button" Eventghost send to MCE the keyboard shortcut "ALT+ENTER" means reduce or full screen windows

Really grateful for your help :)

You have to add the plugin task create/switch events for one.

- On the Context / Programs sub folder create a folder, call it MCE
- create a macro add an event of your remote (must press the button on your remote and copy/paste it from left (log) to the right (macro)
be sure the box Log only assigned and activated events at the bottom is unticked
- After the event add an Action "emulate keystrokes" and enter {Alt+F4} apply+ok

- On the switch part you create a macro, add the event Task.Activated.ehshell
In the same macro, after the event you add enable exclusive: MCE (located in programs logically)

After that it should work

OK, if you don't get an event when pressing a button (having "Log only assigned and activated events" unchecked) then EventGhost can't do anything to fix that.
Either you need configure the remote receiver plugin or install/update a driver for the remote receiver, check the remote receiver plugins support thread for specific info.

I know what's going on here, I had a hard time figuring this out when I started using the HID plugin too. Depending on the version of Gyration remote, there are up to eight different HIDs that have different buttons assigned to them. So you will have to load many copies of the Generic HID plugin, one for each of them. So keep adding the Generic HID plugin, and with each one added highlight the next Gyration related HID in the list, until you have all of them covered. Once you do that then you should see events for all of the buttons.

I have the same Gyration remote and have all of the HID plugins enabled...

But I want the big Green Button to open XBMC and not WMC. How do I accomplish this?
