MceIr Pipe error and random functions missing

I have 2 issues, one that's been a random thing since day 1, and the other more recent...

1) MCE_Vista: MceIr pipe is not available, app doesn't seem to be running. Random, and tried looking for a fix on Google, but lots of older stuff or unsolved posts, so figured I'd just ask. Is there a fix for this aside from rebooting? I'm running Win7-64, tried another USB port, and it's random... some days 3 or 4x, sometimes a week without instance. Been like this ever since I upgraded to Win7 back in June. Since then have reinstalled Win7 (not repair) but still same random issues.

2) EG loses commands. This is just the past week, maybe fixed itself but figured ask in case it's a known issue. One day EG just wasn't working, buttons didn't work, stuff that I mapped was gone, etc... had to reinstall a new copy of EG, loaded the saved config which loaded but had stuff missing. Had to remap keys and resave the file, then yesterday realized that about 8 functions on my remote no longer worked, again, had to go back into EG and remap some keys again. Very weird and hoping fixed now. Have the config file saved with a backup elsewhere. But in case it may happen again and a way to avoid it, any ideas what/why it happened? Used this for almost a year now and just the past month EG has been flakey on my system.

While I'm asking, and in case related to the problems listed...

I also noticed at times, even if the remote isn't facing the receiver, that sometime the light flickers and the log shows a long list of just random events... I've checked around, no remotes or anything else that would be sending signals like another remote, even put cloth under the receiver in case the glass reflection of the TV stand was bouncing a signal in from somewhere...
