Compatibility with receiver and normal remote control

Postby Kareem » Sat May 26, 2012 2:02 pm

I just discovered EventGhost and it looks like it can solve my problems, but I wanted to confirm before I buy an IR receiver.

1) Is it compatible with either one of these IR receivers? I assume yes, because both claim to be MCE but one of the user reviews on Amazon says because the receiver emulates a keyboard, it doesn't work in EventGhost.
If it's not compatible with those, is there a basic USB ir receiver that works well that people would recommend?

2) I'd like to use one of the above receivers with a standard TV remote. I have a Samsung TV remote, but I'm just wondering if that is possible with one of those receivers?

My end goal is to control MPC or VLC. Just basic play, stop, fast forward, rewind functionality.

Thanks for any help.

The best receiver is the USB-UIRT ( www.usbuirt.com). Has its own plugin, sends, receives and learns all kinds of IR signals, supports IR wake up from standby, supports XP and win 7. Keyboard emulating receivers also work with EG using the keyboard plugin, but can be more difficult to configure, since they often send multiple events for one key press. Original or fully compatible MCE receiver is better, but sending IR is not supported on XP.
